Queen's Scout Award by Dick Whittington,

Queen's Honour for Andrew

Congratulations to WHR's Andrew Tyrrell, on obtaining the highest award available to young people in Scouting.

Andrew received a Queen's Scout Award from Hampshire County Commissioner, Dick Whittington, at a special presentation ceremony at the North Baddesley Scout Headquarters.

To achieve his award, Andrew had to complete a variety of projects in line with scouting's aims, including spending eighteen nights on residential activities, twelve of them under canvas.  He also completed the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award and made a presentation about his work.

Andrew's time at WHR as a volunteer, visiting patients and broadcasting their requests, fulfilled the service section of the award.

On receiving his award, Andrew said, "It was a lot of hard work and took a long time to complete, but I had a tremendous amount of fun. I have continued to volunteer at WHR because I love seeing how a hospital radio station works and the joy it brings to patients."
